Er yeah Rob, but you dont open your shop whilst the workmen are still in do you? LoL

IF youre going to look at getting a web site designed youll be wanting examples of their work, current client list with links etc etc etc, "under construction" is a thing that should just never be shown - come on.

Now Now come on Mr WKDclio2, if youve got these clients then put them on your site, 10 minutes work will make it better wont it?

Just hope your going to use a slightly larger font, as I cant read anything under 12 points.

( there are millions like me )

check out the website i made for my final yr project at uni. I got Destinctions for it.

It is about a boring subject but i am sure you will agree it is good. Also the guestbook isnt working for a reason.

If anyone wants an interactive site like this done then i am your man.

Ive had a look at the sites you have done. Theyre hard to analyse as most are big corporates which dont allow much design flair. Your last one though was ok..however your stuck in what flash used to be, a showy off introduction tool. To be fair all of the sites are quite nice, though dont push any boundaries. Dont be over critical guys ;)

I know the owner of whizz kids drama group. For uni we had to find a company that had an IT related problem and i new whizz kids needed a website so i done it.

Cheers dogmaul and roamer

its my mate that does all the websites hes a lead web developer in a company at the mo but thinks he will be better off going alone now. im trying to market us as well as learning the trade. thought i mite get a bit of support actually!!

cheers guys.

Hay great, he will be better going it alone, all the best to ya, just try and put a bit more of a framework around it, get the company registered/setup, expand the site using clients that you have done, or reference sites as examples - good luck to ya

to be honest i dont know the 1st thing about it all im just learning but hes really good at it all. cheers for the good luck roamer. we only really started up on the idea yesterday so weve got a lot to do but give it a couple of months to get our name around and things will start hotting up i hope. weve got some work at the moment that were on with till we get busy and can employ more people.

The web site design and building industry is saturated! I hope it goes well but you will need something very very special indeed to stand out.........

I reckon if you target companys then there is loads of sites to do.

When i get round to it doing these when i finish uni i got 3 companys waiting.

I would love to go into web design as a job but i think i would spend most of my time on this site instead of coding
One of the weird things Ive found with being in the business is that myself and quite a few othre developers dont have time to do much with our own sites

Mike youre right the industry is saturated! Working for yourself is a bad idea! The best thing to do is get involved in a stable company. Self employment only works if you offer these £50 website, done in a day deals which is crap as it doesnt stretch you, and youre never going to earn a lot! Its all very well being the best website designer around but you also have to be a great seller. I hate to sound negative kmillard but the courses you do at college/uni are probably well out of date, the reality is youd get eaten alive. Same to wkdclio2, you cant bumble along, learning as you go, you need to be prepared! Thats why its best to start off in a company, learn the ins and outs and only break away if you know you can do a better job. At the moment it sounds like you have next to no experience.

I agree with u rob, The course i am doing at uni etc is going to be well out of date and just about usless like all Degrees and education in general, my course does not teach us web design or anything along those lines and i am all self taught! But then again i am not going into this trade in anyway. I said it interests me but i wanna go into Networks side of IT. I am doing these few sites. These 3 sites i am going to do will be in my spare time to help people i know and gain a little extra cash, One of the sites is for a family member, one is for a local company and one is for a friend for his new company and he is doing £500 worth of bodymods to my car for it. So it aint a career just an interest
