Anyone fitted a decat to a 197/200?

Hello, me again.

As above anyone fitted one? Was it worth it? Not interested in the rest of the exhaust, just a decat.

Cheers.

Nah they will induce a flat spot. They are very sensitive with the exhuast systems. Kevs got a janspeed on his 200, sounds ace, but it's made the slight flatspot thats there around 2.5k more pronounced. That system removes the second cat

I joined clio197.net to ask as theres probably more of a 197/200 ownership on there and nearly everyone who commented on the decats complained about a huge flatspot!

Thats the end of that idea then.

Cheers for the reply though mate.

All aftermarket alterations to the exhaust make the 2.5k flat spot very noticeable, especially when accelerating from that point in the rev range.

Good gains from a map & decat on a 197/200 combined - bring out a dollop of mid range gogo!

Oh i'm not doubting it, but i'd be going from a £50 decat pipe to a £50 decat pipe and £250 for a map. For what, 5lb of torque and 3hp??

Just not worth it.

Sometimes it's not just about the figures if it adds to the driveability. Mods breathing mods need backing up with a remap so it's going to cost but could make the car much more enjoyable to drive!
Plus the things weigh a ton and the less time they are on the car the longer they will last!

Thats my point though. The driveability is excellent, cannot fault it. I just wanted to create a bit more sound. But If it doesn't work and it needs mapping to correct it I just cannot be bothered.

just remove all the mid boxes between the cat and the back one. that will make it sound a tiny louder, and will not affect driveability in any way.
