  1996 Valver

Just heard a few things from people, thats it not that good.

You got it, what you think?

  Ultra 197 ex 172 Cup
i aint got it but i see it on that gadget show, and their any any channels like 3 or something, and they just show demo pictures / clips all day long or some crap like that

Its great quality, but there are only a few channels that offer HD. I have Sky+ which is great. Probably be a while before I get HD. Next HD purchase will be the PS3.

Getting my HD installed on Sunday, I can't wait :D - got some cabling work to do tomorrow.

Can't wait to see the footie in HD.

I'd get a 360 but I think the PS3 will be better, and as such I dont want to waste money on both consoles. Hmm...would like a 360 mind :(

Are those shots from the 360 HD-DVD drive then?

dvd is a progressive dvd player not upscaled and the hd dvd is xbox 360 hd dvd player yes

If the images from the link are true, the difference in quality is remarkable!! I'll be getting the HD-DVD drive when it's widely avaliable!

Back to the thread.....The cost of the HD box is still a joke! Until it comes down to about £100 or has a lot more content sky won't get an additional penny out of me!

I work a Sunday @ Comet and they had a staff deal;
£100 for the box, free intstall and free viewing for the year.

Tbh I only got it as I wanted sky in my room and it has the hardrive, the HD is just a bonus!

But yeah your right, only a few channels at the mo, but sure more will come along soon.

Those pictures are great Mcbunny but the quality of pics from SkyHD is not as impressive.

You watch a HD DvD then watch the same film on sky HD i bet its not a touch on the DVD.

Ive been watching it a few weeks now, the missus family has it on two screens in their home... one a panasonic tv and the other a top spec sony... and with the whole 10 channels they have.... some of which only start showing HD shows after 8pm!?!?! i say its nowhere near worth the money yet. its got to go down ALOT before i buy in.
SkyoneHD only shows about 3-4 HD shows a day. its a joke.

Ordered it, but I cant get it. The apartment block that I live in only has 1 LNB and the people that came around wouldnt fit it as it needs 2 LNB feeds. I couldnt even get sky + so had to settle with normal sky.

It only needs 2 LNB feeds for the recording aspect. It will work perfectly well with 1LNB aslong as you don't want to record something and watch another channel.

I'm having the same problem with Sky in my apartment.

I don't have sky HD but I have a few captures from it. The quality is excellent, it uses the h264 codec with a bit rate of around 18mbps. By comparison, most HD stations in the US use mpeg2 at 10-14mbps and are clearly inferior. The BBC are currently trialing 20mbps high definition using h264 which also looks very impressive.

It's amazing..

Worth it for football and the BBC drama stuff (Robin Hood etc..). (For me, anyway!)

  Tesla MP3 2021
yeah had it for just over a week now.
love it to bits.
love the sky + part of it aswell:)

I downloaded some HD clips from the Microshaft WMV site (here) and played them via my x360....the clarity is amazing. I thought I'd seen the good sh1t by playing xbox games through it, but video looks very sharp and the colours are spot on. I'll try and do some 480 vs 720 comparisons later to show you.

Can't wait for new 1080p projectors to be released at a reasonable price - same resolution as IMAX apparently....phwooaar, geekfest! :clown:
