Anyone know why this lcd is so cheap?

Looks a good set, just be wary of using DirectTV's though, I've heard a few bad stories about people buying from them.

Be better off searching the AVforums mate for more info.

Cheers.. I had my laptop from them and were fine. They are only 30mins down the road and can collect, so somewhere to drop it back off at if theres sommat wrong! :D

It's cheap because it puts out cheap.

Bit like an ugly prostitute, you'll get what you want from low cost one, but it won't be anything special.

it only displays at 720p or below. no 1080i or 1080p output.

The thing is, it's going to be f00king ages before we see true 1080p stuff with any regularity. The other point is i'm willing to bet that you'd not be able to tell the difference between a 720p and a 1080p scene on a 37" screen!

People make a big deal of all these numbers, but 720p in the home is more than adequate.

i have no idea what 720p/1080p means. So i doubt i could tell the difference.

My £62 24 inch samsung widescreen off ebay is entering its thrid year and going strong!

I do like these cheap LCD's though, seem good value for money, but i am so tight i will wait and wait and wait lol.

My bro has a 40 inch bravia jobbie. Looks very nice and picture is good, but would i be able to tell the difference?

You will see a difference with sport, maybe not on most things. I agree 720 is adequate for home use, but why settle for adequate? I suppose the price is quite tempting, but there are cheaper..

It can do 1080i, they just ommitted it from the page. Its on the specs.

No point really in 1080i on a 1366 x 768 panel anyway really, better off with 720p, which is what the majority of stuff runs anyway.

Thats a top set, cant fault it, esp at that price!

You wont really notice a difference on a screen that size, you need to go 42" and above to physically be able to notice the higher res so to pay extra for 1080P panel this size is a bit of a waste...

No, if you look at detailed specs on the same link, it outputs primarily 720p but will output 1080i/p downscaled, as per pretty much all 1366 x 768 panels. Thats pretty standard fare. The 'display format' is simply referring to the res of the panel, and this is the same as any TV under £1500!
