Anyone tried Michelin Pilot Sport 3 yet ?

The death of the pe2 is on the cards and its replacment being the Ps3.

Has anyone tried the ps3's yet ? I need a couple of tyres and i like the Michelins, so they seem like the obvious choice.

But i dont know anyone who has tried them yet.

yeah I don't think they will do them in 1*2 sizes, as they never did with the previous pilot sports

PS3's are the replacement for the PS2, not the PE2. maybe there is a PE3 on the way but not sure about that

I know but as they are phasing them out, i thought it maybe worth trying the ps3

Be interesting to see how they compare. When would it be likely a predecessor to the pe2 would be announced/released?

^^ i am told these are the recommended replacment for the pe2 by Michelin. But thats 2nd hand info, so dont quote me on that.

Had a look at some when i picked up the pe2s a little while back. They only had them in a 17 at the time-side walls didn't feel as stiff compared to an equivalent size pe2. Be interesting to see if it makes much/any difference on the road.

Have them on my C4 and think they are great. Had PE2's on it originally then goodyear NCT5's then Toyo's and now the PS3. Best tyre I have had on it so far.

Not available in sizes to fit the Clio's yet though. 17" - 19" and 225 - 285 widths only.

They are supposed to be replacing the Exalto range and the PS2 range however probably will be a while yet. The PS3 is improved over the Exalto is pretty much every way. Even the tread wear rating is better. Which is unusual for a supposedly higher performance tyre.

^they are available for clio sizes, some members here are running them. tread wear rate is higher than 240? (PE2)

Tread wear is 320 on the PS3.

They are doing 16" sizes it seems they were released recently, but non of the places I buy from do them in 16" sizes yet. Michelins UK site isn't updated to show the 16" sizes yet either.

320 is MEGA! if they really hold up that long they must be one of the best if not the best all rounder out there

Correct me if i'm wrong but larger number means harder rubber.

How can this be good?

maybe michelin had come up with a pretty soft compound which also has a good wear rate. I'm pretty sure there are tyres with lower tread wear values and less grip. that's why the michelins cost half the value of a car lol :D

Just had 2 PS3's fitted to front of my car, ordered through local independant tyre fitting place, £106 each, fitted and balanced. Seem like decent enough tyres, but since I had them fitted, the wife has stolen the car, won't give me the keys back and says she enjoys driving it and I can't have it back! :mad:Should have bought her a bl**dy 1.2 model! Beeatch!

Just had a couple of PS3 fitted to the fronts today. First impressions are good, better than the PE2s?, too early to say but hopefully Michelin would not replace the PE2's with a inferior tyre or would they????

at the minute costco doing 20% off 4 wheels which iirc from asking the other day makes 4 come in fully fitted at £380 in 205/45/16 sizes

really tempted but still got a bit to go on my p zero nero which seem to be lasting ages

Right I have been running these for a few months now. And I like them.
They offer the same if not a better level of grip than the pe2 in the dry and appear to be better in the wet. Not that i tend to push it, when its raining. How they will wear I don't know yet, as I have only done about 3k on them so far.
But personally I rate them, from what I have experienced so far they are an upgrade to the pe2. imo

They are meant to be 10x better than the pe2's for wear as its a harder compound
