Anyone use/own Nikon 70-300 VR?

My reach is now maxed at 85mm so looking for a 2nd lens to compliment this.

The 70-300 VR is not fast, but has VR and 300mm.

Any other recommendations for around this price? (must AF!!)

I've heard image quality can be fairly close to the 70-200mm f2.8 vr. Its a lens i looked at a while ago, gets very good reviews...

I bought one a few months back to use with my D40. I've only used it once so far at the DTM at Brands.
