Anyone with Cobra X-Low subframes...

What sidemounts do you use?

I have 2 sets of OMP sidemounts, but they don't fit. :dapprove:

Then 'apparently' Cobra sidemounts don't fit Sparco seats.

I'm buying metal.

I had sparco side mounts, which fit omp subframes and a cobra seat. Just throwing that in there too.

Just make some brackets up, for the sidemount to subframe... it only looks like you're out by 10-15mm ?

That's what i'm thinking mate. Going to try and source some bits of metal in my lunch break and have a go at fabricating something tonight if I get time.

In the long run I think i'll get the subframes modified.

I just bought the Cobra mounts to go with my x-low frames.

Failing that, just get some brackets made up.

Cobra mounts don't then bolt to Sparco seats apparently? Or so i've read. It's a gamble buying a set to see if they fit.

I've decided the cobra xlow frames are s**t tbh. They bolt up OK to the car, but it looks like a blind man has done the welding.

Couldnt you just drill the cobra mounts to fit the seats instead of adding seat height with another peice of metal under the sidemount?

Do you know anyone with a cobra seat mount combo you can borrow to try the mounts before you buy?

I have 4 new OMP sidemounts, so don't want to spend another £100 on 4 cobra sidemounts if I can avoid it.

I think the issue is shortly to be resolved though as I'm off to see a blacksmith that thinks he can modify the cobra subframes.

I've just dropped them off with him and can collect tomorrow pm, so all good. He laughed at the quality of the welds! LOL.

Must admit, the swords and axes thing is a pretty accurate description of the Forge I just visited!!

Is the bracket he's making from a horseshoe.

It wasn't quite that archaic, he had the correct stuff in stock.

To be honest though a horseshoe is probably more accurate than a Cobra x-low subframe!

Seat frames back, all sorted:

Andy charged me £30 which I was happy with. He's done a good job and even flattened off the horrible Cobra welds so the sidemounts sit flush. He was less than complimentary about the build quality, especially after I told him the original price!!

Drivers one in place already!
