Leave it downloading 24/7 maxed out.

They'll help you move, but I suspect that you won't have time for this to have the required effect.

There isn't much you can do unfortunately.

As Plus.Net use IPStream (supplied by BT Wholesale) the bulk of that fee is charged by BT Wholesale themselves with the remainder being Plus.net's admin costs.

Ask them how much it is to terminate your contract early.

tbh i havent been happy with the service from day 1 its very random with the speeds you get its supposed to be 2Mb most of the time it seems top be behaving like 1 or less

£80 install fee!!! Jesus...

Option A, Moan and moan some more until they cave in and give you a MAC code. Especially if you've been unhappy with the service.

Option B, Pay up unfortunately.

The download 24/7 is the only way you can get out of this, as they are the ones then ending the contract.

They won't end the contract though. Plus.Net adopt a FUP rather than a specific limit. If McBunny downloads 24/7 they will continue the service albeit on a more contended pipe.

Unfortuantely this is the "new plusnet" who couldn't give a rats ass, they won't be caving in. There's people who have had no adsl service for weeks from them and plusnet still wont let they move without penalty fees.

Depends how you ask.... Most people adopt the "me t'internet ain't workin properly, it's bost" approach and get nowehere.

With a bit of knowledge and the correct approach it's a lot easier. I know of 2 people that were recently supplied with MAC codes from Plus.Net to "keep them quiet".

Ahh...this is a new change, it's hard to keep up with them all because there's been so many!

It's actually now called the SUP, (sustainable usage policy), a few weeks ago it was the FUP (fair usage policy) - under the FUP you could move without penalty if plusnet asked you too.

I suspect that everybody who wanted to move (and in the know) was just maxing out their connections, hence the changes when it became the SUP.

Basically, you're screwed!

It's how you approach them mate..

If you simply phone up and say something like "my internets been crap since day one I want to move" then they'll simply quote T&C's at you, blame BT and confuse you into submission with technical terms and phrases.

If you are prepared, call them and start quoting a few informed facts and figures at them they will instantly sit up and take notice as you imediately stand out from the other 99% of customers as you clearly know what you are talking about. If you can demonstrate to them you know what you are talking about and are prepared to make your feelings quite clear to any potential customers then in these limited cases they are likely to issue you with a MAC code and in essence you are then some other ISP's problem.

I'm not suggesting this is fool proof but I work with GSP/ISP's each day (Plus.Net included) and it's alot more realistic than maxing out your connection 24/7.

i shall give it a go tonight as a 400k connection isnt what i call good

Like griff said, that won't get you off. That's well within BT's spec for your service. You're going to have to come up with something better than that!

what tact would you take then as tbh i dunno what else i can pull them up on

I have no idea. I've only ever heard of 1 person being allowed to move without penalty (I read the plusnet adslguide forum all the time).

Griff seems to know what you should be saying, maybe he can give you more details in a pm or something.

McBunny's Snr and Attenuation were perfectly healthy so that kinda put stop to any technical approach to Plus.Net.
