Apex off, Sportlines on

After much fun yesterday and finding a split inner CV boot, the springs are now swapped.

I'm not entirely convinced by the rear but the front doens't look to have changed. The ride is much improved, possibly better than standard and the handling seems to be just as good.

I miss the lowness though. Is there any way to influnce the rear? Would removing the rubber seats have any effect or would that destroy the springs/mount points?

Keep the rear rubber seats on, they dampen vibrations etc. I had sportlines on my Cup, i rated them VERY highly! The rears might settle a wee bit, but not a great deal imo. Only other way is coilovers im my opinion.

still preferred the apex, you don't swap the springs for comfort

Apex go coilbound (coils bang together) when giving it some beans. Not good. Ebaich don't, they piss on apex from a great heigh, in terms of design and build. Very good quality.

They should settle down a bit mate.
I certainly hope so. Have you got a side on of yours to compare?

As good as the Apex were, the ride wasn't the best. I counted 5 coils on the Apex and 7 on the Eibachs. I think standard is only 6.

bet you could see where the apex coils have been hitting each other too ;)

But for the price they should.

But why would you want to ruin a good handling car with cheap springs? :S

That's as low as mine was on Apex. I hope it gets to that level.

I need some fat birds for the back seat.

Thats all I've got to hand at the mo. But I'm going to do another exhaust clip now with the decat fitted, so I'll take some side views for ya.

Pins on that ho' ^^^.

That looks more like it.

Does the height on mine look about right for day 1 of fitment? I hope to god they settle down as I've just sold the Apex.

More pics would be great.

I see what you mean mate, i've always being slightly dubious about how the rear sits on Sportlines. I really think i will go down the coilover route.

Now then Len. what a git that was on saturday, eh?

The Near side looks way lower than the OS. if they both look like that on our lasses at the rear, i'll be made up. If we can get those bolts off, of course.

ive fitted sportlines to the rear of my car and when they went on were quite high. ive adjusted the dampers to their softest setting and have had 3 bags of plaster in the boot weighing it down. took them out tonight to see how its going and they're really starting to settle after a fortnight. so id chuck some weight in the boot, mainly as they nosedive so theres no weight on the back at all.

3x bags of plaster you say eh Mark? A little pikey but if it works.

How does it look in comparison to the bullet?

well it was the only thing in the garage which i could nick for a couple of weeks without anyone complaining :approve:

i would say when all the weight is out of the boot its a midway between your current sportlines and the apexs and it should settle a bit more.

Could be promising. I'll see what I can dig out of the garage.

I just need to watch the corners with the weight in the rear. I went a bit wild testing the new springs and split a bottle of Coke on the front seat runner, the car smells like a sugar factory now.

i almost crashed today as i went round a bend a bit fast and the car just wouldnt bloody steer as the back is soft as s**t

fair to say the missus had a little very justified rant lol

That starts the minute I start my car. I only hear it during those brown pants moments as I concentrate more.

apex lower the car well but seem to be known for sagging. when we took the Apex's off Bubbles car recently they'd sagged to about 50/55mm. Yeah the car looked great but it was really crashy to drive. She's also fitted Sportlines and it has improved it greatly, still slightly lowered but much more fun to drive again :)

nice one ben

i never had any trouble with this sagging malarky, and i've had them on two cars. i've never driven on Sportlines though tbh
