AR1 Prices

Since when did AR1's go up nearly £100 for a set of 4! I was watching a set from jjc for £280, now re-listed for £370!!

Not sure if this is the reason in the Clio sizes too but there were a lot of cheap ones around until recently, they changed the compound for 2017 and a lot of places were selling the 2016 compound off cheap - I got a set for the M3 for under £600 which was a blinding deal for those sizes.

I have never found them that much cheaper than R888'S. Used them once and they are good but noticeably less grip than so i went back to R888 and now R888R as i can get a set fitted and balanced for £350

When they were £70 a tyre that was a real bargain, but now at £90+ they're not much cheaper than the new R888R.

The only reason I was going to try them was purely down to the cost hence my disappointment when I tried to find them for the price I thought they should be! As they are now at the 888 price range I might as well just get those for the new wheels.

Out of interest, 888 or 888R? Ill only be using these in the dry and ill probably get 205 rather than 195's but not decided yet, these will be on a 7" rim.

I'd of said so, 888's at least, especially for the old price difference lol. Not tried 888Rs myself

Neither compare to Dunlop dz03g or Yokohama a048's.....at the prices they all seem to be now I'd go for either of them if you want the best performance!

I moved across to Dunlops a couple of months ago and what a difference compared to 888's (not tried the 888r though) I know there's a fair bit of personal preference when it comes to tyres, but I found I had a lot more confidence on them, even being a used set with 2-3mm left.

I would personally spend a little extra as @DCELEC 182 said, and go for direzzas or A048's

After a few trackdays with the R88'R i find them considerably better than the old R888. The aO48'S are for competition use only so no use if you also use the car on the road or the championship/series you compete in requires a road legal tyre.

Dunlops DZ03G are a fantastic tyre (slightly better than the R888'R) but a fair chunk more expensive

I used to use dunlops but went to 888's because they were quite a bit cheaper but now all the prices are going up I may just go back to Dunlop as it will only work out about £40 more expensive.
I wanted to try the AR1 should have brought some when they were under £300.

I can get AR1's for £92.00 each for 195/50 15 and £101.00 for 205/50 15

Just to throw a spanner in the works I can get these AR1's for less than £80 a corner in 195 50 15, nearly £200 a set less than my current Dunlops. May just have to give them a go after all
