As a point of interest

Hi there, does anyone own a clio 16v or similar and in the age range around 20? I am just wondering. If you are, and if you dont mind me asking, whats your insurance like? what are the conditions on the contract?

I am just interested. I need more power and although i want to keep my litle car, i am looking at all possibilities.

i am 21, and i have just had my renewal for £1140, fully comp, i have 4 years no claims, no accidents, no points, but i live in the west mids, i cannot drive anyone eles car, i think i can add mods but it pushes up the premium. Oh yeah i am with direct line.

Im 20 mate just got mine im with Tesco and i pay 850 TPFT for fully comp it would have been 1100. (This is on a Phase 1) Siggsy

How the fudge does that work? I pay £1000 on a 1.4 rt? What the hell am i doing wrong? I have had 1 accident, but they told me that didnt really count (a dear(?) jumped infront of me). Oh and i am with tesco. Oh and no no claims. But this year i should get 1 year...yipee.

dtwd, no claims count for a lot! me and my mate live in the same post code and we are both more of the less the same age, we both tried a quote on my old rt and mine was 350quid cheaper than him because i had two more years no claims

God damn i with i hadnt hit that dear!

You know whats more gutting, is the fact that it demolish the front right of my car BUT DIDNT DIE!!!!!! and ran off. Fooking bastid!

im 21 now last year when i was 20 i insured my 16v for £910 TPFT with no NCD and that was a real struggle to get it that low, this year with 1 year NCB i got a quote the other day to get an indication and elephant came up with £570!!! there is light at the en of the tunnel.

always TPFT or TP only mate, fully comp is pointless, they would probably give me 2 grand for my car and i would pay that back within a year in increased premiums

your f***ed, but your equaly as f***ed if i did with fully comp, but if it came to it and i racked my clio (inevitble) i would rather have a sh*t fast car that i can still insure rather then a few grand for a bottonm of the range car that would be the only thing i could insure, own fault claims absolutly cripple you, and they stay for 5 years, its just my opinion, anything worth over £4k is differnt, but rember how easily stolen these smashed up cars are ;-) thats where TPFT can save you,

im 20 and its stupidly expensive and some couldnt even insure me till im 21 so im in my mums name. £600. sorted.

Im 20 in july, im paying £1890 TPFT with flux for my 16v, have 0 no claims, live in Liverpool (not a bad area), car is garaged with a cat 1 alarm.

Well it wasnt my fault that dear ran into the road, then stopped in front me. You would think that it would have learnt that a 60mph limit road (in a straigh line) is a bad place to cross.

  Mrs' valver! &myV6 veccy

Jesus hope you didnt kill her!

Same thing happened to me a couple of months ago, some old dear walked straight out without looking right infront of me. Luckily was only doing about 25 in a 30 zone, still hit her doing about 5 though.

Funny thing was that as i was braking like mad she still didnt see me and carried on walking across! Doh! Broke her hip and 2 bones in her wrist. Well at least i got 4 witnesses.

I do mean 1.8 16v.

No i didnt hit an old dear (least i dont think it was old) i mean a dear, or dere, or deer or however you spell it. 4 legs, mainly bornw, looks like one of those things that pulls santas slay.

A Plan Insurance - www.a-plan.co.uk or something like that.

Im 19, No NCB, No accidents or anything

£1350 TPFT.

That was the best i could get - and believe me, i must have called EVERY single insurance company i could find!!!

Well i feel a bit happier about my insurance now, i pay 428 squid for my 16valver, at 26 with 5 yrs no claims and thats with the few mods i have declared.

That is with a company called HIC and i would seriously suggest people try them, they gave me the best quote for my clio, other people wanted over 600 pounds and they also halved the renewal quote i had for my modded corsa.........

Chuckie.

Which mods, in general, dont insurance companys like? With me Tesco had a problem with brakes, which i thought was a little funny, but you can sort of understand (if you stand on your head, while flapping your arms).

paul

They generally dont like anything that is going to gain you extra power. They seem to be ok with things like exhausts and induction kits. Some companies can be funny about lowering.

I was looking at a few things in a few months time (after insurance payout). I was looking at induction, full exhaust sytem, lowering and chiped. So you think i may get buggered on the chip?

paul

Depending on which company you go with, i dont think companies that specialise in standard cars would be too impressed with a chip, but companies such as adrian flux, greenlight or HIC would probably insure you with a chip, and as well if you go with a company that specialise with modified cars they know realisticly what can be gained by having mods such as these and charge accordingly.

lofty, do you realise that with a lot of companies, a car like yours is going to be CHEAPER to insure fully comp than it is TPFT

try it online, u might be surprised
