Ati Catalyst Control Centre

For anyone who knows what the smeg im talking about - My my, i was pleasanlty surprised yesterday - i am now running at 668 and 798 clock speeds on air. HOWEVER - there has been no change to any FPS in any game and also my 3dMark 05 score has dropped 200points - er - wtf? im using CCC and have run the automated clocking utility - which gives those results. Do i have to do something in particular to 'turn the results on' as it were? im confused - i have ati tray installed too but havent used it yet.

Can someone please explain why i get great clocks and NO results and if i have to do something in particular to get them to work?

cheers

The CCC isnt great for overclocking, most people avoid it. Use ati tool instead, its far better. What card have you got?

  None
I think its running too fast if its dropping in performance. Try lowering the speeds a little and keep testing 3d mark and work out what speeds it peeks at before it drops :)

What were the old clock speeds? Its very unlikely to be getting a big noticable difference in frame rate unless pushing it far, in my experiences anyway.

Uninstall everything ATI driver related inc ATI tray tools using Drivercleaner Pro
Then install Omega tweaked drivers (even though they are based on the January ATI drivers)
They come with a tweaked ATI tray tools as part of the install

Then get shut of some of the CCC services, don't run CCC, this is a great guide

This is worth a read too

In game image quality far better than std drivers, I've got HL2 looking stunning compared to latest std ones on my X800-XT PE, o/c good too ;)

Also check bios voltage to the card, may want increasing slightly if you have the option to, some game engines respond better to higher processor speed or higher front side bus as opposed to just o/c graphics card
