Auto lights

  FN2 Type R +MK6 Golf

Does anyone happen to know where the sensor is that trips in the auto headlights when it gets dark.

Just curious,ian

I thought auto lights would be a right useless gimmick but now I reckon they are the best thing since sliced bread. The wipers are completely pointless but I couldnt live without those lights now.

I have auto lights on the cup! As soon as the engines started bang theyre on, night or day.

Helps f**kers see me coming when im overtaking:D!

Now I automatically do it, no matter if im on it down some twisties or popping to the shops, like putting my seat belt on its a habit.

I think the autolights are a nice touch but no essential. I do find sometimes when I would otherwise put my side lights on the autolights stay off.

Othertimes when you go under a bridge they suddenly switch on. I like them as a feature though, and lets face it Xenons look cool!! lol

Pain in the butt I think, if you need to flash your lights whilst they are on you have to switch them on and off quickly, otherwise you just full-beam the oncoming car! Very easy to forget and just blind people.

Im with the lights on 24/7 concept. Proven to be safer if you have at the very least your sidelights on during the day (although its not known exactly why, but thought to be due to the fact that a frightening percentage of drivers have deficient eyesight, theyve got more chance of spotting you with your lights on)

Is it good for Xenon bulbs to be switched on and off quickly, as happens with auto lights? I presume it must be OK is Renault spec the lights to do this is auto mode...

I got fed up with mine and switched the auto lights off - but I do drive with my sidelights on during the day most of the time anyway.
