Auto rear wiper, not working!

My Bro in law has just purchased an 04 Extreme 3 today. been having a look round it tonight and realised that the auto rear wiper doesn't activate when reverse gear is selected. The rear wiper and wash both work when operated from the stalk. Can anyone shed any light on this please?

You have to make sure the auto wipers are on, and I don't mean in the on position. Start the car, turn wipers off and back on to auto, then give it a try.

If you've already sussed it's not that accept my humble apologies. If it's still not working I'd check the reverse light as well to make sure that comes on, could be a dodgy contact.

righto, the car doesn't have auto wipers so that's not at fault. Yep the car's reverse light activated, the engine was started and the front wipers were wiping. I select reverse and nothing... :dapprove:

yes, it wipes when you manually operate it

When you put your car into reverse the rear wiper should come on automatically - just a novelty thing really.

Wrong, the auto front wipers have nothing to do with the auto rear wipe, it's a select reverse feature. My Authentique had it with no auto front wipers. As above, so it seems do the Cups.

My profuse apologies. How could i say such a dangerous thing.

At the end of the day its a major worry that rear wiper doesnt function in reverse gear. Shant sleep trying to figure it out.

I find it annoying when I get home and it's stopped raining (auto wipers stop, and back windows are dry) then I select reverse and the wiper starts having a go at a dirty dry window. f**king stupid idea. Can't even disable it, if it's a broken switch then tell me where I can find it (shoot it)

my 04 04 plate Dynamique has it fitted, tbh its a bit pointless as if you've got your front wipers on then you should really have your rear 1 switched on already anyway.

Agreed, poorly thought out idea. Wish mine wouldnt work!
