Auto wipers on a 197

How can you tell if you have them?

Is your rear view mirror light grey or black?

Will have Auto lights too..... and a black sensor pack behind the rear view mirror.

That's easy.

You click the wipers to the first position and if nothing happens for 3 days - you have auto wipers

Must read the book to see what they're supposed to do.

It appears that the come on once in the morning and then and random times throughout the day based on how hard you are cornering/braking.

Doesn't appear to be based on things like water on the screen - which If I'd been the designer I'd have had that in my specifications brief somewhere.

Although if you play chicken with them when it's really pissing it they do eventually come on (once).

I can confirm that I don't have auto wipers. Only asked as I had the wipers on (not intermittent) and they missed every 5th wipe or something like that.

Had auto wipers on my VW Bora and they were great. Never had a problem or needed to switch the wipers on full.

In the Megane II I had before I couldn't adjust the sensitivity of the auto wipers, when they were on auto they depended just on the quantity of water hitting the sensor on the top of the windshield. It worked well in most cases, except during strong wind when I had to increase wipers' speed on the switch.

Now in Megane III there is additional switch with 1, 2, 3 and 4 drops symbols on it and its position influences sensitivity of the auto wipers. It works great. As I'm still waiting for the Clio I can't say which of the two options is in it, but it could be that they are using the newer one

The manual doesn't bite btw.

It has a scroll wheel type thing on the stalk which you use to turn the sensitivity up or down.

Oh yeah roger that ive sorted mine now ive turned the auto lights off tho dont like that
