automatic headlights

  BG V6, LY 182
i know some one with exactly the same car as me.
only thing is mine is 1 year older.

They have automatic headlights. and i dont, or i dont think.
How would i turn them on to automatic if i 'did' have them.

easiest way to tell is if you look at your windscreen, if above the rearview mirror there is a thing that looks like a few bubblews with unlit leds in them then you have auto lights an wipers if not then you dont,
they were standard spec on dynamiques from launch a until 05 plates, then i think the became an option. Not too sure if they were standard on extremes.

got to www.parkers.com and you can check what spec your car should have had for its year.

Sorry to revive an old thread...

I have been moved to France for a while, and bought a new Clio dCi 85 here (10km on the clock!) from an importer.

The car has the large detector on the top of the windscreen, and I recall seeing auto headlights/wipers in the spec. However, they don't appear to be switched on.

I tried the sidelight thing this morning, with the engine running, but no beeps. Any ideas?

Having done a more thorough search, a lot of people suggest leaving the engine off, and trying more than twice. I'm sure I did this morning, but will give that a shot.

(I don't seem to be able to edit my own post)

as above.

ignition to the 'on' position (engine off)
switch lights on, off, on, off and you'll hear the beeps.

they're annoying anyway, means you can't quickly flick the full beems to flash people out of junctions etc. With the auto lights on, the full beam stays on with even the slightest flick of the stalk.

  Shed.
Is it possible to turn the auto wipers off and have them on manual, because they are so shite.

- to save me creating a new thread.

Yes, same drill as the lights.

Put the key in the ignition, turn ignition on, but do not start engine. Switch wipers on and off a couple of times. You will hear a beep.

I definitely have the sensor box on the windscreen, all seems to be in place, the manual etc. But, I can't seem to activate the headlights. Any tips?

The car's fantastic apart this annoyance. I wish there was just a permanent "auto" position, like on most other makes.

Make sure car is off. Turn key to "on". Lights on and off twice. Mine didnt beep when i did it. Should do it.

Eh , what ?? :S

Your totally wrong mate i'm afraid . The auto wipers are only on in position " B "

Position A is completely off .
Position B is with the stalk pulled down into the first position . This is the so called " rain sensor " or " auto wiper " postion
Pull the stalk down one position further into postion C and your in continous slow wiping mode .
Pull the stalk down again as far as it will go into position D and your in continous fast wiping mode .

If you don't want your auto wipers on just miss out position B , job done :)

As for the auto lights . I don't need my key in the igintion to activate/deactivate them .

Like fubar says , they are a pain when they are on if you flash someone , as the full beam then comes on and can stay on no matter how gentle you flick the stalk towards you

To do away with auto wipers, I believe you can fita wiper stalk from a non-auto equipped car - thus disabling the function.

I haven't tried it though so no guarantees!

Well that's interesting, because I was hoping to do the opposite! Do you think it would work?

Does anyone want to swap wiper stalks? lol
