Back end skips...?!

  ClioSport 172
On right hand corners my clio is bad for skipping. Its as if the weight shifts across causing the whole car to skip in a sense. My cousin thinks it might be a wheel bearing or axel bushes. Any ideas...?! Many thanks.

is there actually anyway to properly check the rear shocks?

Take one of at a time, and bounce the rear end, you'll notice the difference if one is broke, it will be like a pogo stick.

Yep my Cup did this recently..although tbh I wouldn't bother check which it is..get them both done as you can bet the good one will die reasonably soon

Check shocks
Check tyre pressure
Check you have good tyres on there
Check wheel bearings

Cures:

Better tyres
Stiffer springs
Run correct tyre pressures.

Will be rear shocks, but always replace both left and right together. Not just as other will die soon, but fresh shock will be less settled etc.

Circa £50 a corner from renault.

Thanks for ur help guys. Is it worth gettin axel bushes and wheel bearings or will i just get springs 2 start? Would it be sitting lower on one side if one of the shocks is knackered?! Cheers

Sshocks won't affect the height.

don't bother with the bearings or bushes unless there worn.

Had this problem recently, identical symptoms. Fitted two new rear dampers last weekend and it has transformed the car.
