Bad news - New rims, Good news - 18s

Hello people,

As the title suggests, good news, bad news situation.

Basically, Ive recently just bought my 172. And I put my 17"s on from my old 1.2 Clio, and the offset is different between the wheels (I DIDNT KNOW THAT ). So therefore the passenger rear arch is rubbing on the tyre. Oh yeah, lowered it -40mm as well on Apex springs.

So it looks like Im going to have to get new wheels, as I cant have anyone in the rear. So Im gonna go for 18"s, I know Im compramising handling, acceleration etc but I dont drive fast all the time!!!

Has anyone on here got a 172 on 18"s or got any pictures?

Thanks

All opinions welcome

18s are for show. However, handling will suffer a lot especially in the wet as youll suffer tramlining effects. They do look pretty damn good though.

Thanks, they are for show...I think I can deal with the compramise on handling..I dont race that much...I cruise

theres a few peeps with 18s on there cars on here go for it mate at the end of the day as long as your happy you cant complain

youll want to lower it more or it will look like a 4x4 mate. and have to agree about the handling but if you arent worried about that then go for it

Thanks people, there is a pic of a 172 in the gallery on 18"s. Iceberg Silver, dropped -40mm and I think it looks perfect. Im gonna go for it, the wheels are gonna cost me nothing as well. As Im selling 2 sets of wheels (My 17"s and original 172 wheels) and also a Kenwood TV to get them.

Ive gotta get new wheels anyway, no choice. So might as well get bigger ones!! My mate has got a 330ci and hes getting 20"s, my other mate has got a Golf GTI on 19"s, so I need to be joining the big rims crew I think.

Thanks

My bro has 17s on his 1.2 with a 60mm drop and it looks damn fine no rubbing or anything soI cant see 18s being an issue on 40s. Happy cruising.

not a fan of fox wheels, cheap thin alloy on the ones ive seen, mate had a set delivered with the tyres fitted up and all 4 had been buckled by the tyre fitting machine when it clamped
