I need to change both the ball joints on my car. The parts arent expensive and ive needed to change them for a while.
Can anyone help with the best way to do this, and if i need any specialist tools?
I have a 12" long fork type tool, seperates the joint in seconds (with pinch bolt out). Smack fork with a hammer inbetween joint then lever joint if necessary, done. Should be less than £10 delivered on ebay,
Just done this on my cup again yesterday - it's not a hard job really
There's 2 bolts holding the ball joint to the wishbone - slacken those off - remove the 17mm pinch bolt that goes through the bottom of the strut
Then hammer a fork splitter inbetween the hub and ball joint till it pops out - can take a fair bit of hammering and abuse lol
The new one you just tap with a hammer till it's in the bottom of the strut - fit the pinch bolt - then bolt it back to the wishbone
Do everything up very very tight - job done
