dont floor it so hard then lol

Thanks for the intellectual comment.

I too have the knocking. I have all new engine mounts, all four of them.

I'm thinking top mounts at the moment. My other idea is a mis-aligned exaust?

I'd probably say its something to do with suspension iPap. reason i say this is as my Cup used to do it when i floored it hard, and it would wheelspin, knocking and banging like a goodun.

Recently had a new suspension leg put on, only on one side mind, but now if it spins up it is perfectly smooth, and grips so much quicker too.

i had a small banging noise when in controling the car on the throttle in traffic jams renualt replaced the lower front engine mount now i get the banging noise when heavy acc. if you check the k tech site they offer up rated polly bushes to cure this, they recon its the downpipe on the knocking on the floor, this week i'm in for a doggy hand brake and when resting foot on clutch not depressing it the clutch is engauging?

Sounds like your engine mounts rather than suspension - very common problem!!! I'd have money on it being the lower engine mount (dog bone), the only thing is, change this and you'll develop a different banging noise somewhere else like mine!!

I had exactly the same problem with my PH1 172 pi**ed me off for a year until I read the sticky post on the Mech forum about the dog leg adjustment which I cant see anymore for some reason.

However the best solution. (Which worked for me) was to loosen of all the dog leg bottom engine mount bolts then get a bottle jack in between the front bottom cross beam and the bottom of the engine and jack as far as is comfortable. (Which moves the top of the engine away from banging on the bulk head) (Peeps may take the pi** out of this but it worked for me)
Once done tighten up the dog leg bolts while the jack is still tense and job was a good un.
Worked fine for me no more banging in first gear under hard acceleration. Been fine for about 3 months now.

Rob

Cheers mate will deffo give that a go. I think the prob I'm having is due to the fact I fitted the dog bone whilst the car was on ramps outside my dads, thus the engine was tilting backwards. Tried undoing it all and doing it up with my dad pulling the engine forward, was fine for a while but soon started again, will try this trick!! Did you undo the top mounts too or not??
