Clio 2007 Dci 1.5 MK3
Never had battery problems, often let sit for 3 months unused & would start fine.
Battery 5+ years old

Recently, has been sat unused for 9 months, in a garage, battery connected, unlocked (didn't expect to be away so long).
I did the following:
1st = Tried starting. Totally dead
2nd = Jump leads from Megane. After 1 min, clio started fine. Let it idle for 30mins. Could restart a couple of times. After that, would not restart. On trying (ignition only), wipers and internal electrics go crazy (flashing dashboard symbols), lots of clicking from glove box area. Starter motor not clicking.
3rd = Tried Jump start battery charger. Didn't do anything. On starting, wipers + dashboard flash, and lots of clicking (even after removing key for 5+ seconds). Starter motor not clicking.
4th = Re-did jump cables. Didn't start, crazy internal electrics & wipers didn't occur. Could hear starter motor clicking.
5th = Connected jump start charger & did hill start at same time. It started (step 4 must have helped). Drove for 30mins above 2500rpm without any problems. After that, did not re-start. Resumed flashing dashboard & wipers + glove box area clicking. Lights work, radio does not work, emergency indicators work, rear boot solenoid does not work, central locking remote works.
6th = Turning lights on, and trying ignition (after 5th step above) sometimes stops the crazy dashboard + wipers + glove box area clicking, but, starter motor doesn't turn (but does click once).

My hunch is the battery is well and truly dead. But........ the crazy flashing, clicking, wipers contradicts how the remote + lights + emergency indicators "do" work.
