Much prefer rush to breakthrough. Blowing up a target on rush totally changed the flow of the game, as you had an entire team pushing towards the other target. With breakthrough it just feels like a game of domination.
Rush was by far my favourite mode in BF:BC2 - as you say, getting past the target changes the game up a gear.

Some of my favourite rounds on there was when I spawned on the attacking side and the opposing team put up a really good defence. Trying to work out how to chip away at it, was all part of the fun.

People are expecting too much from a beta. This is literally a play test. You can't expect them to give everyone "test vehicles maps" or perfect controls etc.

With over half a million folks playing this (on Steam alone) on Saturday at the same time, I think shows that the recipe is there for a really good BF game.
Perfect controls, unlikely. But a sandbox level is one of the easiest things they could implement - in fact, they probably use something very similar in the test branch themselves during development. They just add that to the main menu.

As Clart mentioned - waiting ages for the chance to get into a jet and then ejecting himself two seconds later. He definitely won't be the only one.

Just give the players somewhere to get to grips with the basics at least. Otherwise, adding the complexity of bots and map routings is the only other way apart from making yourself useless initially online.

If there isn't a Vehicle test map on launch someone will make one in Portal in about 0.0001 seconds anyway.
