I also found out about the autolocking mechanism from a forum post on here, which to me was worth the £5 alone.

My owners manual is still where it always was, in the glove box with the rest of the crap they gave me ;)

hmm tbh im always wary about em, had abilty on last 3 cars i own but never used it cos if your in a crash and the doors are locked your fooked (ye i know they are sposed to auto unlock but dont wanna take the risk tbh)
Unless you happen to be driving thru beiruit then ill leave switched off ta

Yeah they open as normal from the inside, they are just locked from the outside. And if you have a crash and the door is wedged you are fucked anyway ;)

You know what, i actually read bine pretty much cover to cover, as i went on holiday 1 week after i got the car,

However, i had to read it again as i couldnt find the hole to fill up the washer fluid! I needed to think outside the box, and move away form the bonet a little,

blook washer fluid, i had to ask my g/f to help me find it grrrr

The doors autolock as you pull away at the start of your journey, and only unlock once you open the door from the inside or throw your car upside down in a ditch.

Bet you didnt know how to set the alarm with the windows open either.

Press the lock button twice?

Dont think it matter on non RS cars, its the ultra sonic sensors that set the alarm off if you leave the windows open on 1*2's.

My anti-hijack thing doesnt work. Neither does the lock button on the dash. The dealer told me it will never work either due to the way the alarm is wired in.

Not sure why really, but i've had this looked at three times and they said the same each and every time.

I don't call it the "anti-hijack" feature, to me it's known as "Martin why the f**k are you locking us in your car you weird son of a b*tch."

hmm not sure one the locking with windows as the standard clio key fob (not new keyless entry ones) only locks/arms the doors/immobiliser. My 172 was a motorsport import and had no alarm so I had an extra one fitted (toad sigma 32) which uses the same key fob. I helped the chap fit it and the way it (and other 'bolt on' alarms - same as standard renault uk ones ) and other alarms which do not have an additional arm for works is by tapping into the cars lock, unlock central locking wires for a +ve signal or pulse. The internal central locking switch is also used so not to let a would be thief break in and use the cars standard central locking to disable the alarm.
It seems that possible they have completely removed the internal central locking switch on pbirkett's car to make life easier :( = pikey way of doing it, either that or they made a hash of it.

For this reason I am not aware / nor think it is available for a normal clio with standard fob to have a dual function to allow arming alarm (which is not standrard @ factory) with windows open (and if a 2nd mode was allowed i think total closure would be much more usefull - think ne1 197 and meggy have along with 1 button up/down on all leccy windows)

edit - am happy to be proved otherwise tho as a 2nd function would be uefull :)

Nope.... do tell!!

Turn the key in the ignition to the one before its actually turns the engine over (so all the lights come on) and off again 4 times and then get out and close the door and lock it as normal.

I shiit you not, its like a cheat on a playstation game. The car will beep 4 times to let you know its worked.

If you arm it the way i've suggested it turns the ultrasonics off on the std alarm. Opening the door from the inside sets the alarm off, i'd imagine the lock button does the same
