Bellhousing adapter for gearbox?!

Just wondering quickly and looking at all my options (or non-options).

Would I be able to get a GTi-6 gearbox to fit my Ph1 172 if I was to adapt the bellhousing, or somthing similar?

They're cheap as chips, bullet-proof and readily available. All the things a Ph1 'box isn't!

That's if the bloody great thing will even fit in the engine bay of mine!

I've just found dimensions for the Gti-6 box.

It's the size of a three-bed semi. No go.
