Best HDMI cable for PS3?

  Clio 172 Cup
Difficult if not impossible to tell the difference.

Game sell 2 metre (I think) ones for 12ish squids .. they seem to work just as well as my other gold plated ones.

I was totally unconvinced about this until Friday there.

I'd been using a cheap freeby HDMI cable that came with a Samsung DVD player on my PS3 but I needed the cable to go back on the DVD player so I bought a Sony HDMI 1.3 Cable - HD 20P or something like that. Was about £20.

The difference is noticeable - even the missus commented on how sharp the PS3 interface was.

A 2m Molex HDMI cable will work fine with signals up to and including 720p and 1080i and will cost you approx £20.00.

If you want to ensure you have compatibility with a 1080p signal then as Dilsher suggests look at BetterCables - a 2m 1080p compliant cable will cost you approx £60.00; see http://www.bettercables.com/index.as...WPROD&ProdID=4

If you can try out a couple of cables in your system you'll be able to see if any of the more exotic cables actually make a difference for you.

But as said i doubt you will even see the difference chris you NøøB

Stop being a skin-flint, Chris. Did you see those audio cables from Nordic Odin (sp?) is yesterday's Mail on Sunday? They only charge £12,000 per metre - and then £7,000 for every metre after that.

I'm sure they would do a similar bargain on their HDMI range. ;)

Thats just the psychological effect of spending more money than you had to ;) you see it as better quality because you expect it to be.

Kinda like when you put a loud exhaust on your car it sounds like its going faster, even although that cherry bomb just lost you 10BHP ;)

Better cables DO make the audio or visuls better! you don't spend good money on gear then use the freemans out of the box, top stuff don't have a freebie in !

Just bought the cord company silver plus 1.3 HDMI cable and it is a lot better than the biz you get in the box! good leads and cables will last a lot longer than the electronics if you look after them, so you only have to buy them once! Lol

Not with digital.

Put simply, as long as the signal is strong enough, relative to the distance, to accurately produce the 1's and 0's then signal will be replicated perfectly.

In the unlikely event you were to get signal degredation, it would appear as blocks in the picture (missing information) rather than a slighlty worse or fuzzy picture.

If only we could transmit analogue signals without degredation eh? ;)

its always a good one this, i'm on the side that believe a cable can make a difference.

this is why I bought my pure av silver belkin cable

  • Delivers best high-frequency response for optimal resolution using silver-plated conductors
  • Isolates from outside noise for superior clarity with quad-shielding
  • Maintains stronger signals that yield superior sonic and video accuracy with precision-formulated, polyethylene dielectric material
  • Reduces cross talk and interference using impedance-matched, twisted-pair construction
  • Protects against wire damage for consistently high-quality audio video with integrated strain relief
  • Maintains integrity, even when bent with abrasion-resistant, flexible PVC jacket
  • Create precise contact for low loss with 24k gold-plated connectors
  • Provides comfort and ease of install with non-slip rubber grip and integrated color-coding

as long as it isnt 80p it will be good, i always like gold palted and thick wires, as basic physics explains that gold is 99.9% unreactive, is a very good conductor and thick wiring= less interference

lol, some people will beleive anything

It's the golden rule tho mate that all the mag's use ( sorry my qote marks key is broken )

If you can't see or hear the difference between the expensive gear or the cheap gear , get the cheap gear and pocket the change.

I've tried explaining it to my mates but none of them will have it either. An expensive HDMI cable will not get you a better picture. Oh well. your money!

Thats it tho mate choice/opinion, you will get a better picture/colours/sharpness with a good after market cable.

Will the difrence's be worth the outlay of money? yes to some no to others!

so do you have to buy £100 usb leads so you get better pics off your digital camera?

I think not

I think you need to go and read up on digital signals and their transmission mate tbh.
ok, explain how you get faster speeds of DIGITAL communication over Cat6 cable than over Cat 5 cable?

Hmm, its still a cable but one provides faster speeds?

I'm no expert but I would appreciate if you could explain it when both are network cables?

Also, why do people buy shielded network cabling?

thats COMPLETELY different

how? faster transfer speeds maybe but it's not going to make your pictures better because it's digital
no its different because the quality output is not relying on the quality of the transmission.

You only see the end product, streaming a video over USB is a different matter, but sending a single file, if it doesn't make it over the file will just be corrupt, moving pictures being streamed in real time over HDMI is not the same as transmitting a single file over USB and only seeing the finished product.

can i just clear up that I don't think the picture ou are viewing will actually improve with a more expensive cable, just that the transmission will be more reliable and you are less likely to not receive part of the image i.e. pixelation.

Its only a slim chance you would see it anyway but i'd rather just have it perfect.

Unless you have an all gigbit network, you won't notice the difference between cat 5/5e/6. the difference is minute.

Cat 6 just resists more interference and means you can make longer runs.

Having a £100 HDMI cable is exactly the same principle. Average joe will not be about to tell the difference between a cable costing £1 or £100
