Best Way To Get Tar off Paint

  VRS

got lots of little speckles of what looks like a tar like substance on the paintwork, whats the best product/way of removing this without doing any damage to the paint?

I had some black marks on my car this week and only got around to getting them off today. I dont think it was tar but rubber from santa pod! It was stuck really hard onto the paint and even picking at it wasnt getting it off.

In the end my Grandad suggested using some butter which shifted some of it and then we polished it off with some turtle wax stuff. If I look very closely at the paint (really close up!) I can see an orange peal effect where we have polished (about the size of a golf ball).

I have the same colour as you (Racing Blue) and I havent realy got a clue what you can use. Apparently you can buy some tar remover stuff from halfords which might work but be very careful not to mark or damage the paint like I have done!

Autoglym tar and adhesive remover is safest way as it dissolves it. ( Need to re wax after tho) Clay works well but means your shearing it away from the paint. I would try the AG first and clay if that fails.
