Big engine problems

  RS4 480hp,STI 420hp,ELISE
Car is a 182

First few minutes the idle is ok, afterwards it goes to +- 600 rpm. You can feel that also when you're in the car (shaking). But that's not the only problem. When I slow down to stop at the traffic lights, the rpm drops to 600, but sometimes it drops slowely further to 0 and the car dies. But ofcourse it also happens when I take a sharp turn and I have to use the clutch. The idle drops when you use the clutch, but doesn't stop. It drops to 0 and the engine dies.

Throttle bodie was changed and it went ok for 2 months (except for the low idle).

Now yesterday I was so angry, I pulled at some wires and when I pulled the battery + cable, the engine was revving 2 times spontaniousely. I tried it again, but without any result.

Anyone an idea?

It would sound like the TB but obviously you have had that replaced hmmm... What about the coilpack? Does it missfire at high end too?

Mine was exactly the same and changing the TB for a freshly cleaned one has solved the problem completely.

Also noticed while rewiring yesterday that the +ve for the battery joins the loom from the ecu that goes round the engine. So pulling this may have upset a connection to the ecu.

Strip all the tape and cover off the ecu wiring and have a look. If there is a cut wire it will be easy to cover with heatshrink to fix it.

the bracket that holds the ecu has snapped yes, but I fixed it myself

Check the idle control vale is you have a cable throttle .

If you don't get a spare throttle body your should likl its broken.
