Black box?

Please forgive my naivety but what is the sealed black plastic box that is attached by hoses to the air filter actually for? Not the air box attached to the back of the engine, but the lack box that sits beside the engine. I have no idea what it is called or what it does. Can anyone shed any light?

It's the airfilter..

Not the air filter - that is located under the I in 'this'. I know this because I have had it out and cleaned it. The black box that is circled does not seem to be able to be opened - any other ideas?

Its the resonator box, dunno what it does tho. Chucked mine and put a pipercross cone filter instead, sounds better

Not the air filter - this is located beneath the 'I' in 'this'. I know this because I have taken it out & cleaned it. The circled box cannot be taken apart or so it seems. Any other ideas?

Yes i no it cannot be taken apart its the resonator box and at the back of that it connects to the air filter housing, i had the same setup as standard
