black old style plates

as seen on fancyplates, since they were actually used on classic cars are these now illegal or would i be able to use them on the front of my dynamique. also what about the pressed plates anyone know about them :) or do u think i should just go the 3/4 size, everyones opinion wlecome

the old style plates are illegal on modern cars, only acceptable on vehicles registered before a certain date iirc.

bugger, i might just go with the 3/4 plates

is it ok to have a white plate at the back or is tht illegal as well, do they have to be yellow

  golf
3/4 is illegal also i thought, i got plain pressed plates on atm, havnt been pulled yet though touch wood

has to be yellow for deffo............ive got away with my 3/4 front plate for now........wonder how long that will last...................i got away with my pressed ones from dubmeister for 12 months then got pulled and fined! hit or miss depending on your area i rekon!

yeh the pressed ones arent that noticable unless you know what u are looking at, donno if the plod up here would be pikcy about it, im no sure whether to go for pressed or 3/4 now

I'd just stick with standard tbh. I don't see the need for black (old style plates) or 3/4 ones.

As long as you leave an 11mm gap from the edge of the letters to the edge of the plate all round you can't get done, ok so it's not 3/4 it's a compromise.

i was looking through old threads and i reckon im gonna do what foxy done and make it 3/4 height but the proper width, looks quite gd IMO

Keep it legal, make sure the measurements and other requirements are exact.

Then you can give the OB the finger.

IIRC its the same dimensions as a 3/4 plate, just a bit larger text than usual..........i.e the text on mine is slightly bigger than the text on christophers 182......even though the plate is the exact same dimensions

does urs not sit the same wdth as the standard, i just ordered it anyway making it 3/4 height so that it doesnt overhang but the same width, hopefully the plod dont notice it and it look ok on the car :)

Tbh I find that 3/4 sized number paltes are quite noticeable.
As said it depends on what the police are like in your area, if they're sh*t hot you won't last long without getting a tug.

hope they dont notice it lol better keep the old plates in the boot haha. ill check it to see if the letters are 80 mm from the edge when i get them through, any idea on the height of the letters so i can check them aswll

i have had a 3/4 plate on for ages now, i even got pulled for a random check thet checked over the car and didnt even notice it, guess its just chance if you get caught or not

u been pulled with them yet

no pal, the law round our way seem to be pritty good on modified cars, the only thing ive been pulled up on as been the side exit exhust, after telling them it was needed and isnt my everyday car theve been fine ever since with me:)

No offence but I don't see the point of 3/4 plates on clios especially as it has the indent for a full size legal plate looks w**k front and rear because of that reason

thats why i ordered mine full width, so that it fills in the indent but it is three quarter height so it doesnt over hang, and iv just got it standard on back :):) best of both worlds :)

More trouble than there worth for daily use, used them for shows circa 1998 and if I ever left them on always ended in hassle.

look cool but the police pulled over some guy that was in front of me for having black plates on a 90's jeep

ive got a shortened plate on the front but its within the legal limit

dont want to be 'illegal' as ive only just passed my test

is this the same as getting a normal size number plate on your car except having slightly smaller text on it?

if so i'm looking at doin that..well what i want is a plate which fills the indent but has 2=3/4 txt int he center on it.. so smaller text if you get me/

how would i go about gettin that?

what do the text dimensions have 2 be to have it legal? or is that not possible?

nevermind my cousin owed me, so i got him to get me a plate

near enuff what i wanted.. and not too noticable..

before new plate
