Blaupunkt headunit

Hey

should a blaupunkt head unit work in my 172, just basically, i know that i'll need an adapter for the stalk controller, but what about the multichanger?

and should i be able to get basic functions out of it, i fitted my one this afternoon from my old car, but its not turning on, tho i did have the stalk plug connected, would this prevent the radio from turning on??

Hi Matt,
It will depend on the model. Very few units support the Clio (or Vauxhall) dash top display without the use of an adaptor, same goes for the steering wheel controls.

The fact its not working is a bit of a problem.....check fuses etc. and make sure the permanant live is the right way round.

Some cars have the red and yellow wire connections the other way round for reasons better known to the makers. Use a test light or meter to check.

Dont assume because they both have a DIN connector, they are the same...

Most Blaupunkt units have the wiring colours on a label on the unit.

The disc changer may work as some of the Clio oem units are made in France under licence to Blaupunkt.

I fitted a Grundig Alix FM/DAB/CD unit into a friends 172, and the disc changer worked no problem. The dash display and stalk however, did not.
Looked very nice in the dash with its Blue display, matching the converted panel and switches.
