its like anything cookie, you can find something on the internet that backs up your own claim, i'm sure if i tried hard enough i would find something to back up a claim that black is white, that ice is hot etc.

The first one I came across for bluray player reviews was cnet, they put it top as of may 2009

http://reviews.cnet.com/best-blu-ray-players/

I have a perfect picture on my ps3, no grain (unless it was added pp), nothing so I fail to see how any other player can offer a far superior picture to a regular movie watcher, not a technology tester etc.

Its very difficult to improve on the quality of picture we have these days, so for something to be far superior it really has to be noticeable to everyone who is exposed to it, i compared my ps3 to my dads s350 at christmas and the two were very similar, we both agreed the ps3 was a fraction better though etc.

Its all subjective, some people prefer vga over component on the xbox, theres no right or wrong really, but what i can say is that i defy anyone to watch two bluray players, one of the the ps3 in a blind test and pick it out as being far worse!

Thats just ridiculous

thing is its quite possible the ps2 was a bloody awful dvd player picture wise it really really was bad so there is no reason why the ps3 could not be just as bad (its not but im trying to make a point)

It sounds like both of your eyes need testing :p

I used to work for an independant electrical store for 5 years and we had banks of LCD and Plasma TV's lined up and they all gave superb HD pictures. It was when you went to a standard signal (i.e. not HD) when you sorted the men from the boys quality wise. The point is that as a rule of thumb an HD source looks good regardless of what it comes from because its such high resolution. Obviously if you buy a high end bluray player it will give a richer and better picture but the difference will be marginal if you're running it on a panel thats not a good match for the player.
