BMC CDA installed (pics)

Installed CDA last nite.

Did I installed it correctly?
Wheres the best place to pick up cold air?

Went for a quick drive, well...the car feels fast because its bloody loud! so Im not sure how much faster. Theres no induction roar on part throttle, but above 4krpm, it really rumbles! sounds a bit like WRX..

Should I get my fueling checked? how do I know if its out?

Great pics.

I think if you extend the inlet tube and pick up air below/infront of your car would give better performance gains. You need to take off your bumper to remove the air valve behind the light so you can rout the inlet tube down the wheel arch. Heres some of my Viper install pics.

you dont need to take the bumper off to get the air valve.....just jack it up and remove the NSF wheel...take the inner wing guard off, the front bit, its just a couple of screws and there it is.

I wouldnt unplug and remove it completly though as Im sure its linked in someway to the ECU, so all I did was tie wrap it out of the way so I could get the air feed down there.

Chris172: Last time I checked, the air valve doesnt seem to be linked to the ECU. No sensors or wires are attached to it.. So I just took it off. Can anyone else clarify for us if this is safe?

The air valve is just driven off a vac line from the inlet manifold, so youd need to block that if you remove it...

the valve on the top has wires going to it so if it was dissconnected it may cause problems....even BenR left his on!!

There is plenty of room....I unbolted it turned it upside down and tiewrapped it out the way.

Better safe than sorry!!

I just finished installation again.

This time I took the air valve off, but leave the wire bit inplace. I took one of the driving light off, and route the pipe to there.

Went for a quick drive, even better than yesterday, rev climb up so quickly that I need to change gears very soon.

Just wondering if Im running lean or not though......

Your fueling will probably be lean, get it on a Rolling Road to check it

thats te cylinder head hes earthed.

in some cases it works, in some its useless. Depends how well earthed the std motor is.

had a spare wire, so I thought I tried it. but its useless.

it works better on older cars.

Just been on BMCs website for USA & Canada, They have some details and pics on the product and some dyno before/after stats for a Mini Cooper S with graphs etc. Whats really strange is it states the product is designed for track use and NOT for general public on roads and should be installed by a trained technician !! Have to say the kit looks top quality.
