BMC Induction Kit.

Hello m8. I found a place that supplys these in the uk.

http://www.stealthracing.co.uk/

Check that web site out and you should find there phone number there. I spoke to a Chap called Vince. Its 140quid + VAT. Because theres not a specific kit for the 172 you have to follow these instructions in ordering and fitting of this kit. I found this on yahoo ClioSport 172 group.

"When ordering , please state that you want the bigger air box (135mm)
with the 80 mm intake , and a 70 mm exit to the engine (the 172
intake and throttle body is of 70 mm .

The Kit is not specific for the car , it has got other aplications ,
but by an happy mistake it is a BANG ON FILTER for the 172 .

There are 2 other sizes available , medium and small boxes , but the
one for the 172 is the big box .

The kit is not so easy to fit , but you can do it yourself following
these steps :

1) Remove front bumper , easy job in my point of view .

2) Remove the original air box ,and intake pipes that go to the front
of the car , just behind the bumper air scoop .

3) Remove the battery and the plate that is used to clip the rubber
band that goes arround the original air box !

4) Remove the plastic part that holds the 2 air horns that were
connected to the 2 original air pipes .

5) Now the difficult part , the BMC box has a front air intake ,
while the original one is fed by 2 pipes on its side , as the BMC
box is almost the same size as the original one , the route of the
intake pipe is different , the 80 mm pipe has to go through a metal
plate that is just next to the headlight (if you remove the
headlight , everything is much simpler to install ) . Problem is that
the plate has got a funny shaped hole in it , with a 70 mm diameter .

6) Open up the hole of that plate , enlarge it to 80 mm (you can use
a carbide drill to do it , or ask someone else to do it )

7) fit the black 80mm air supply pipe from the front of the car , and
route it towards where the BMC box will stand , passing the tube by
the enlarged hole in the plate (you might want to aply a little bit of
rust portectant to the plate ) .

8) Cut the pipe to the required size , and enlarge the hole in the
plastic plate that used to hold the 2 intake air horns ! The plate
has 2 holes , and what you want is a large eliptical hole in it , or
if you can , hold the pipe in place with another method , the
important is that it must be behind the air scoop in the bumper to
get the best results .

9) Fit the box , first connect it to the flexible pipe , and then to
the pipe that goes to the engine (original pipe ) , you might have to
force a little bit when fitting the box to the original air pipe that
goes to the engine , but dont worry , because the pipe it is flexible,
and it is just a matter of time until it gets on with the new curve
that it makes , believe me , after a month of driving the car , all
the pipes aquire the new shape very well , removing the box to clean
the filter is a piece of cake .

10) Fit the battery , and use the brass metal that is suplied with
the kit , to form support to the box , use the hole left by the plate
who used to hold the rubber band arround the original box to tighten
the support to the car , its so simple that it seems that it was
made on purpose .

11) Fit the bumper (if you wish , and if you want to be a
perfectionist , you might want to cut away all the plastic that is
behind the air scoop in the bonnet , and in front of the intake
pipe , leave just the mount of the headlight , there will be no
problems in cutting the plastic , no stiffness lost in the headlight
mount , and you will vastly improve air supply to the engine )

12) and optional , glue down the BMC sticker , supplied , onto the box."

Hope this helps.

Chun.
