Body Module

  MK1 Mexico, Clio 172
A bit of history about the problem, about 18 months ago a race company removed my interior and relocated the electric window switches to the center of the car, immediately the left switch stopped working, then a month or so later the the heater stopped working, wouldn't blow any air or do anything. I then went travelling for a year and left the car round my mums, my step dad removed the battery, and recharged it, the moment he replaced it one of the indicators came on and will not go off.

The company that removed the interior owed me £500 so i gave the car to them and asked them to fix the problems, service and MoT it and we'd call it quits, theyes spent 10 hours trying to fix the problems, looking at electric etc, decided it was down to the body module, they sent it to an independant company who have diagnosed that the module is faulty and it will cost £480 to fix. Problem is they will not confirm that it will fix the problem. The race company say they have done as much as they are willing to.do and have done more than £500 work even though they have done little more than given it a service.

Does it sound like the body module and is that a fair price?

Thanks

They decided it was the body module after speaking to KTEC, apparently it is also know as the 'uch'

Really you should have asked for your £500 back and had the car taken to a reputable specialist buddy, without turning this into one of those threads - the garage don't really sound like they know Clio's.

After spending 18 months trying to get the money back, it was either this or loose the money. The guy I was dealing with had left and that's when it all started getting silly.

Obviously I wanted the money back but it was never going to happen. Clearly not happy from the beginning. Well they support one of the well known race events where there are lots of clio's so they have a reasonable amount of experience but not a specialist

What's done is done I just want to know if the symptoms i'm experiencing sound like the body module and is £480 the going rate to replace

After looking at a few threads, it sounds like when the UCH is broken the problems are intermittent, mine are permanently broken
