bolted diff into early gearbox??

Hi,

is it possible to fit the bolted diff from a later 172/182 gearbox into a early 172 get box??

Its the retaining plates whih are different, as far as im aware the diff itself is the same.
The plates can be retro-fitted by drilling/tapping the casing to accept them.
