Boot Bar Thing?

I have a mk2 ph2.

There is some kind of bar that separates the boot from the seats
what does it do?

Can I take it out without screwing anything up?

Isofix bar, it's there for if you want to have baby seats.

Won't harm naything if you remove it.

I could be wrong but my mate has isofix in his vectra
and if I was to try and put his child seat in my car it wouldnt work.

Cant get it undone anyway, one of the bolts is jammed.

I think its been cross threaded when it was put in.

Nightmare.

they are tight, the one on the OS always seems the tightest.

The bolts are exposed to dirt on the undercarriage it will take some beef to remove. Ensure you use your wanking arm for maximum torque

Put an extender on your rachet... I used my bolt holes for earths for my amp

Don't try to take it out in one go, undo it until it gets tight then wind it in a few turns to drop the shite out of the thread. Then undo it again and rinse and repeat. It will come out but they'll be silly tight for the most part.

i find a scaffold pole usually gives me extra leaverage

get under and spay some wd40 on the bolts i did mine but went to made and done my elbows in lol

I broke a proffesional ratchet trying to get mine out!!

Ended up using some scaffold and a wheel brace!

I broke a ratchet on a lambda sensor lol, you would have thought the manifold would have given way it was a rusty old thing.

So this bar serves no purpose other than for fitting child seats? No rear support or structure?

Can anyone remember how much it weighs?

iirc it weighs practically nothing. ive taken mine out a few times when moving things around and its a doddle. nope its only for fitting the rear seats. removal would mean that the boot carpet will be short as it ends where the bar is
