Bored

  Clio v6

Last night a friend of mine said " Jamie I see you still have that fancy little Clio " He was amazed that I have had the car for longer than 12 months.

I said I normally get bored with cars very quickly, but when I have been for a drive in this one and get home, lock it up, I still have a wee smile.

I can look back at the car and still say "now that is a nice looking motor". OK so it could be a heck of a lot faster, as I believe it will only lose a 172 way up the top end.

In the end I think it comes down to what you really want in a car, looks for some, handling round a track for some, or both if you are into all the track and 1/4 blasting.

I settle for a nice tidy looking car , thats quick enough for me.

Question Time....

What would be the biggest deciding factor in changing your current car.

Looks - Something slighty better/different looking has come out?

Quality - You are so dissappointed with the build?

Performance - You simply need more speed?

( will your next car be a Renault )?

I know this looks like a front page poll, but as handy as the polls are, they dont offer much in the discussion front.

my next car has to have more speed, so until i have the cash for a Toyota Supra 3lt twin turbo, i think i may get the 1.8 clio, which will still be a huge hike in power from my 1.2!

i never keep a car longer than 6 months. dunno why..

but i plan on keeping my r5gtt for a while.. its always a pleasure and joy to drive.. always seems to be a new adventure everytime u start the engine... pooooower

Must admit that after 6 months and 7k I have already bought an extra car, because I find the 172 rather inpractical and uncomfatble for long distance driving.

The replacement - a 406 3.0 v6 Coupe ! I belive for the money that its one of the best looking cars around, plus the 24v V6 sounds sweet. The excelleration to 60 is slower, however from them upwards it can match the 172 all the way to 150 !

So I took out the 172 today after two weeks and 2k of touring in the 406, how did it feel, well raw, fresh and GRREATTTTTTTT !

I have to keep it but if find its more fun if kept for occasional use as it then keeps the fun factor !

Dont think that I can replace the 172 for pur fin, however when it come to change the 406 it has to be the BMW 850 CSi !!!

If I was extremely dissapointed with the build I might want to change (but only for something as fast or faster).

Most likely reason need more speed.

Why impractical and uncomfortable ?? can only think its becouse you have lots of passengers. ;). I find that mines the most comfortable car Ive ever owned, the seats are ssssooooo nice!!! And is still fun even thou I drive it every day :D

The only reason Id get rid of my car would be if lots of things started to go wrong and it spent more time at the garage than in my drive...thats why the last car had to go...

Because im 6f 2 and drive long distances at the weekends. An example being a recent return trip to Bordeaux, belive me, If I have been in the clio theres no way I could have walked after 7hrs and 500+ miles driving.

However i do agree that its nice for a blast to Sainsburys to get the shopping.

My average is just under a year per car so far (7 in 6 years of driving). Although at the beginning it was more like 6 months each - Ive been keeping them for longer recently.

I love the 172 as a comfort car with all the toys, and the looks are nice too. However its the performance that will be driving me to change it. Its just seeing how long I can hold out before I need to change

No, my next car wont be a Renault. It will be most likely something Japanese with a whopping turbocharger. Im half decided on a Lancer Evo already!

I usually change my car because I get bored of it and I hate cars over three years old, unless its a classic beetle (I know it sounds snobbish) but I hate the hassle of MOTs, rust, and I just love the feeling of a brand new car! My record so far of cars is 4 in three years of driving
