bottom end power

does your clio (172) take a while to pick up power?
I don't mean its lagging but the power isn't instant sometimes.
is a bit like my 2 stroke 250 mx bike, once you hit the power and it goes on a mad one but has to build up to get to it.
maybe its just me but I was just curious.
is in for a cambelt service tomorrow so may notice a difference.
also, while I'm here, do all 172s feel lumpy on tickover?

Generally they are all crap below 5k. Unless you have an rstuner map on it. They're lumpy to a degree on idle but not excessively. If it's jumping about a bit as mine was that would indicate an issue. Where are you having your belts done

yeah was going to say, top end it pulls like a train but takes a bit to get there.

my mate works at a Renault garage in Stourbridge. Ive got all the parts from ads so all genuine kits going on.

its not excessive but its sort of juddery. Your at the meet on Tuesday aren't you?

It felt awfully slow in comparison to a150 bhp ST. you may of read my thread about that.. took it down to mick at diamond motors it had the wrong plugs in and it was timed up incorrect

ah right ok, I havnt read that post yet, you got a link?
this has got excessive Renault history with everything apart from cambelt done by them. I know that's not always gospel but it all feels tight. Just a lumpy tickover so maybe its just that it needs the new belts.

Yeah. Ensure yr bloke doing it has the correct tools to do the job else urs will end up with its timing out also

When I got my 172 I thought it was a bit pants below 5k. So I bought an RSTuner and went to put the map on and...

It had already been installed. Twice.

you'll have to show me the effects of the rs map at the meet, really tempted to invest in the 98 ron map

Sure. I'd love to know what a non-RS tuner'ed car feels like!

hijackers :D
well this is what I was going to get to anyway. I was going to ask what the best map was and where to get it done and what price.

It's a normally aspirated 2.0. It's never gonna feel strong out of it's power band now manufacturers have got turbos sussed and we're all spoilt with torque everywhere.
