brake light problems

when you press the brake how far should it be till the brake light comes on. as my brake light dont come on until i am braking hard. as anyone else had this problem.

1.2 16v

Mine does exactly the same, its also a 1.2 16v. Bit of a pain in the arse when your sittin in traffic, as people are wondering how you are stopping without using your brakes. Had the brakes services too but still no joy.

What could it be?

they is a way to adjust it and mine should be covered under warrenty or change the switch

Mine does it too, dont usually worry about it only doesnt come on if i brake gently. People must think i stop with the handbrake or something lol. As long as it works when i brake hard not too bothered.

theres a screw you can adjust behind the pedal i believe

Mk2 cars arn't adjustable realy you can bodge them otherwise its a new switch.
The Mk1 Clios are adjustbale.
