i got a 52 plate cup and i d like to paint the calipers. what colour u lot reckon i should do them? anyone got any pics of them done? id love to see the,. cheers
Its better and easier if you paint them off the car .Make sure you clean em well . I used some wire brushes in an electric drill . You can get them from alot of pound shops or from screwfix . http://www.screwfix.com/app/sfd/cat/pro.jsp?id=13734&ts=88335
Then i painted them with black smooth hammerite spray . Check out ebay . I got 3 for the price of 2 in the shops . I took the pistons out of the caliper because there was some rust inside the pistons so i wire brushed the insides of the piston with the drill , mask up the machined surface that slides into the caliper . Then i treated it with loctite rust remedy and then a couple of coats of cold galvanising zinc spray .Fill the space inside the caliper body with some kitchen towel to fill the space , draw round the piston on a piece of card and put the card in the hole to stop the spray getting inside and onto the seal .They look alot better than the pics , and the orange on the calipers is from the light in the shed , not rust before anybody comments .Apply a thin smear of copper grease to the piston before you put it back into the caliper . Here are some pics .
