Charming and clever in equal portions, Brütal Legend is a classic example of cohesive game design. Even with a few minor flaws, it's undeniably a production of significant merit. We hope, then, that the subject matter and the light-hearted approach taken are enough of a draw to pull in the players. After all, in an age of ever-increasing monotony and creative stagnation, a game like Brütal Legend is brash, proud, subversive and triumphant - and it deserves to succeed. Get on board, crank it up and make it so. Two horns up.

Presentation
So thoughtful; so polished. From the moment you start the game to the subtle use of the taillights on your car for navigation, Brütal Legend ties it all together almost perfectly.

Graphics
This is how you design a game world. Colour, creativity, iconic character design and some of the best character animation in a long while. A smattering of pop-in and some infrequent choppiness.

Sound
Tremendous in every respect; the sountrack is a stellar, Guitar Hero-shaming 108 songs of glory, while Jack Black and company bounce off an A-class script. Truly hilarious.

Gameplay
A few small problems can't dampen the well-rounded and thoroughly entertaining action/strategy/adventure romp. Deep, fun, funny, rewarding and clever.

Lasting Appeal
Not an epic length for an epic premise, but a lot to do and unlock along the path. Make sure you dig into the side-quests and multiplayer for the richest experience.
