bt broadband

Having probs with Bt broadband, just had an email saying my usage last month was 49.31GB and my allowance is 2GB , anyway after loads of phone calls to them and threats of moving to a differenet ISP they have told me to mointer my usage for a month?

Anyone know where I can downlaod a free ADSL usage meter from??

i know i wana move to AOL but BT are saying ive gotta wait for this contract to end, i dunno how then hell ive used 50GB, i reckon theres a mistake or my bro has been downloading dodgy p**n films again, but its only me thats uses the pc, complete piss take i hate BT, 'Sam' the customer services manager was as bout as much use as a wheel barrow without a wheel!

Go to talk talk. I think if its not available in your area they pay your BT broadband until it is as your supposed to get free broadband with them forever.

up your package then, you need to be on the 20 or 40gb package, not the cheapskate 2gb package, they never bother me and i go over mine but i pay for the higher package, they don't like people paying for the cheapo package and then taking the p1ss by using 20 times their limit, a mate of mine is on the 2gb package and used 80gb, they contacted him too and he needs to upgrade his package, you can't really have this really fast broadband with a small limit, never going to work.

BT are a very good BB company though, not had any problems it the year I have had them, very good service.

you get what you pay for in my experience, the cheaper the broadband the worse the service is, like tiscali, fine until anything goes wrong!

I have had no problems with BT and I always see people moaning about other BB providers, BT provide the service to all other providers but they obviously put their own customers first!

Its amazing how easy it is to add up bandwidth though what with xbox live if you have it, and streaming videos, bit torrent if you use it etc.

Well thats roughly 3/4 of a GB.

If you do that every day for a month then thats 31 x 3/4 = 23.25 GB.

Or, put another way...... just over 10 times your 2 GB a month limit!

Ever likely they charged you!

If that is all you've done then you can't have used 738.82 MB, are you sure that you don't mean kB?

The fact that you have done over 700 MB in 24 hrs seems seriously weird. There is defintely something wrong.

I've just been monitoring my usage over the last 10 minutes whilst logged in here and I've calculated that if I was logged in 24 hrs a day i'd use less than 1 GB a month. Obviously this doesn't include sending mail or anything but it gives you an idea.
