burning smell

isn't the first time i smelt it today..
at first i fought it was just outside but its coming from somewhere underneath my bonnet?

what could it be and what should i check?

could it be my radiator fan as my car seems to be really hot and i can hear this noise...

ive been told burning plastic smell could be something to do with the brakes??
