Business Routers

We currently have a BT Business Router 2700.

As it only has 4 x Ethernet ports, we have 3 machines and network printer using all 4. We then have 3 machines/laptops using wireless.

Can anyone recommend a bigger router to use? With something like 8+ ports?

Is setting up a new router on a business line, the same as at home? Ie just plug and play?

Any advice or the best way to go?

We also use the current router for VOIP x 2 lines.

Easiest solution would be to buy a switch. Basically acts like a splitter for more LAN ports. Plug one port in to a LAN port on the router, then you'll have x amount more ports depending on what size switch you buy.

Or get the 8 Port versions if you want to save money.

Connect all PC's to your switch (1000Mbps) and run one cable from your Switch to the BT Router (100Mbps)

Network will then be gigabit so run faster if the network cards support it (Most new PC's) Backwards compatible too.

I received this today, cheers.

I've run into a problem though :dapprove:

All machines are now plugged into the Netgear (ports 1 - 6), and 1 cable goes from the Netgear to the router (port 16).

The internet is now dog slow on all machines.

E.g. A usual speedtest would see 6.5mb Down, 2mb UP, it's now showing as 0.7mb Down and 0.3 UP.

Any help, please?!
