Cabasse Cd player

Has anyone managed to install a Cabasse Cd player out of a 182 into a 172 ?? I have one from a 182 but doesn't work when installed into my 172, has anybody had any similar problems or suggestions please ?

i'm not gonna be any help, just wondering what you reason is for this? what the difference between the 2?

I think i read somewhere that my 172 cup HU is 22w x 4 and the cabasse is 40w x4, you know if this is correct?

What is actually happening? Display not showing up or just not even turning on?

I believe that the cabasse headunit is 40wx4 thats why i wanted to change it over.

The unit will power on and take a cd and will eject it, but nothing comes up on the display, i am not able to enter the code. Pressing buttons on the unit just makes a beep noise.
The connectors all seem to fit into the back of the stereo as can only go in one way as they are all keyed.
Tried it in another clio 172 without the sat nav and unit does the same thing!

it requires a security code, 4 digits. It would be in the manual for the original car, otherwise your going to need the seriel number and get it from renault

Leave the ignition on for 30 minutes, the unit will unlock, allowing your code to be entered

I have the 4 digit security code, i have tried the unit in a brand new 55 plate new shape clio and the stereo works fine, i can enter the code.
When the stereo is put into a 172 or a meagne the unit will switch on but does not bring up the 4 zeros on the display to tell me to enter the code.

Why do you think that i need to leave the ignition switched on for 30 mins to unlock it ? What does this do and why ?

The later ones are labelled Update list and wont work with adapter leads etc that the earlier Tuner list ones do, maybe this has something to do with it. What's the headunit that doent work say on it?

Just seen you other post, its sounding like its one of the later Update list models if it works in a 55 Plate car.

the headunit says cabasse auditorium tronic and is the update list that is writen on it.
The unit is not using any adaptor leads!??

Update list headunits are for cars after March 05, wiring changed from earlier Tuner list cars.

My adapter leads comment was relating to the fact that the change over in headunit types was initally shown up when 05 182 owners could not get the adapter leads to work as they did on earlier cars. This is down to whatevr renault have chaged wiring wise.

Out of interest though, do you know what changed about the wiring and is there anyway to get round it or change it back ?

Not a clue what they changed, only that I know is that I have been waiting since March for leads to stick my Alpine in!

one last question, any idea if a cabasse unit from an older laguna around the 51/02 plate would work as have seen these cars with cabasse units ?
