CAD uni work

  B/G 182 + PH1 Track
Thought i would share this with some of you because i am quite proud of it so far and would be nice to get a little feed back on it.

This term i am doing a design comp, the brief was "Invent a vehicle useful for society"

After alot of thought, i decided i wanted to push the boundaries that our tutors normally set. my thinking when along the lines of......in Urban areas there is very little ground space left, this leaves under ground or the air as possibilities.

I choose to design a vehicle for the emergancy services and mainly the police forces.

So i did a few initial sketches to get my concept past my tutors.

Then i did some work on the purpose and use of such a vehicle.

Then i started to model in Alias.

How it looks today. I now have 3 weeks to finish the project, this includes finishing this model and doing all the propeer renderings, package drawings ect.

As some of you will probably notice there are a few bits still missing of the model, and a few surfaces that are not perfect yet but hopefully these will all be spothed out soonish.

C&C Welcome cheers /Adrian.

excellent

Very impressive, given some of the previous winers of this competition and the quality of work they produced you should be well in the running!

Im entering the same competition but nowhere near this point yet.

Very impressive, bet that took you AGES.
Only comment i have is, on the computer drawings, i think those red springs look abit out of place. maybe change the colour or remove them?

Your an awesome drawer aswell

Yeah, those red springs need to be there but i have not made the correct shader for them yet, think i may scale them down aswell.
i still have the underbody of it to do and do all the police graphics so may hide them somewhere.

Im sitting Product Design at a Ravensbourne college of A + D

Unfortunatly we dont do so much CAD so wouldnt have the ability to produce anything near what you have.

Best of luck with the competition though. Looks excellent to me.

If you want to teach yourself get this its REALLY usefull, i ve had it 2 years and still look back to it nearly everyday to check up or learn new things.

in total this nodel took 4 weeks in cluding animations (i learned animations while doing it)
But to get to this stage as seen i have gone through lots of different modelling stages.

serious respect! hope you win :)

You could really start a spoof on the internet with that level of detail. Send it to the BBC and say you found a memory stick named 'Police - prototype' on the street (as everyone seems to do) and this was on it. :) Would love to see what peoples reactions were!

Great effort, liking the Renault badge lol

That's CAD on a whole different level to what I know, I studied Product Design Engineering which is more engineering than conceptual. Wish I had done some of that sort of work, maybe one day I'll get a chance to pick it up.

I use Solid Edge now, previous job I used Autodesk Inventor, do a fair bit of graphics work using CAD to generate the images too. Would love to be able to do some nice animations.

:D cheer, the animations are done on autocad, they really should be done on MAYA, but uni doesnt have a maya license and my ATI Graphics card is not able to run MAYA properly, Autodesks new soft ware showcase is amazing but is not supported on ATI either !!!

That's incredible dude, congrats on the successful completion. I've seen work like this before, but not quite to that detail or complexity. Good work, I hope your very successful, I'm sure you'll get a fantastic grading for that :D

  172//Crap Micra//Bus
I hope you don't mind me saying, but i've just realised 2 things. I think rather than split words on to two lines, you should keep them together and on one line. IMHO it will flow better and look slightly tidier. Secondly... I'm having trouble believing that the French could build something so awesome ;) lol.

Just a suggestion mate, Still think it's incredible :D

  B/G 182 + PH1 Track
thanks all, the prizes for winning is a years placement at renault hance the badge, but its a international comp so i dont stand much of a chance :< health and safety Blah thats the last thing to think about on this vehicle.
