"Caged" Group Buy

Hi Guys,
I have been making some enquiries with regards to the "caged" half cage. The exact same ones used by Motor Sport Vision on there clio's. I know there are a few people after one, including myself. They are willing to do a group buy for us! The normal price for the half cage would be £850 + Vat Installed.

They will do them at £580 + Vat. The only problem is that they no longer have the jig for this cage, so we will need a favour from someone who lives near there workshop, and wants this cage! They will need a clio for a few days so they can make one up bespoke. Then they have a template to work from to make the others up. If you are wanting the cage fitted by them it will cost you £650 + Vat. They will do this price for 4 or more cages!

What do you all think?

There Address Is -
Caged Manufacturing Limited
Unit 4
Ashton Park
Handlemaker Road
Frome
BA11 4RW

Thats still £681.50 inc VAT

Its a great looking cage, i wonder how much the Saftey devices one from Mark Fish is though?

Fair enough if its compairable but an OMP Full bolt in cage is about £500.

Seems a bit on the high side price wise

Safety devices cage is about £1100, with install i think. it's only £650 if you want them to fit it. otherwise it will be £580 + Vat

something for you to consider, the safety devices cage, i used just the rear hoop of mine for 12 months.

Its not as easy and simple to fit at the caged one but I think the full Safety Devices cage isnt much off the standard price of the caged one.

If Caged were going to make these again I would ask them to do so with a harness bar.

The added advantage of the safety devices cage is that the rear seats can still be used simply by removing the harnesses bar, (2 bolt and 2 brackets) I had 5 people in my 182 with the cage.

Fitting the rear hoop with harness bar as a bolt in cage is certainly something I could now do its not as difficult as it seams, I know someone fitted a full SD cage themself recently.

If you are interested I can talk to Mark Fish about the posibility of a group buy, full cage or just rear hoops for anyone,

for the record iv got nothing against Caged just seams like a lot of work when there is a cage out there ready to go, depends if your planning on using the car for trackdays or just want the cage for fast road/show

£580 + VAT is £681.50 :rasp:

Or do you mean £580 Inc VAT

Would be interested in a quote for the SD Rear Hoop to Compaire costs TBQH before commiting either way.

If mark fish can do the safety devices cage at a good price, then im up for that. I know it's gonna be hard work with "caged" as someone has to agree to use there car as a test dummy. I maybe doing the occasional trackday but mostly want it for fast road/show.

Would you want the full cage or just the rear hoop with removable harness bar/diagonal

It means all 5 seats are usable with the SD cage. I can give mark a call and see what he can do for you guys.

Personally I would want just the rear hoop & the harness bar. Take it this is a bolt in job? same as the "caged" one?

well, mine is bolted in, but its not bolted to the original seat/seat belt mounts.

it is bolted through the rear arch, and through the floor. Can find you some pictures of mine if you like?

Yeah some pics would be good mate. So could these be delivered to us? and fitted ourselves. or would we need to go to mark fish to get them fitted?

ill go take a couple of pics now,

it could be fitted yourself, but its not as straight forward as the caged one, will need to drill the car etc but its a proper job ...

Think I would be happy fitting myself if the price was right to purchase just the rear hoop and bar :)

Will wait and see what Mark Fish can do price wise before i commit to the Caged one.

I should have prices from Mark by Monday. Just spoke to him. He has to get back to Safety Devices for the latest costs.

He has a few full cages in stock too. I would say that the cost will be very competitive compared to the Caged one.

I previously spoke to them about 3 months ago about doing this group buy, and they wouldn't negotiate on price at all. I thought it was very expensive especially with the additional harness bar and delivery costs and VAT etc

Watch this space.

If it is a competitive / comparable price (i.e. c. £800 incl. VAT, fitted) then put me down!! Seriously... :)
