Calling DCI owners! Gis a 'and

Since I've owned Claude he has this little light which comes on when you put your foot to the floor. It's not all the time it's only when he's really having to work for his speed, going flat out up hill and I'm trying to keep the momentum or when accelerating hard beyond 60.

When it happens there is reduced power for a couple of seconds whilst the light is on and then it goes back out and all is back to normal. No funny noises.

I caught it today when I was giving it some up a hill on the m20

I would like to know this as well. got a customers that does the same but he hasn't come in for me to test it yet.

Does it start ok? Could be a number of things. Glow plugs, clean out your egr valve ( theres a guide on youtube). Worse case could be injectors! Mines literally just starting doing the same so going through the same options myself.

EGR valve is squeeky clean and I clean it everytime I service the car (every 10K). Have done it twice since buying.

A fault within the EGR it's self then that cleaning cannot rectify?

Car starts absolutely fine, probably could do with new glowies but obviously they aren't running when warmed up.

I'm doing what a few others do and running a little 2 stroke oil in the fuel to try and keep the injectors and HP fuel pump going as long as possible!

£115!!!! I'm a student, that's a third of my monthly budget!

Can I just delete it like you do on a landy?

  Many.
Remind me when I pop down, I'll plug it in to confirm.

You can remove and put a resistor in, its documented over on Cliodci.net IIRC.

With regards the litre of 2 stroke, is this to a full £60 tank? Ive not done it with mine although its only just gone over 100k. Worth while doing?

Mine was doing the same. A new EGR valve seems to have cured it. £60 on E-bay exactly the same as the old one. Easy DIY swap. Didn't bother with cleaning it as it was 10 years old and done 140k miles so was, probably, needing replacing. I've put a pot of Wynns injector cleaner in this week. Heard about the 2 stroke oil thing but didn't fancy trying it. :)

That sounds great Alex; RS tuner doesn't like the DCI.

@Seans6 121k now, bought on 106 and the problem hasn't got anyworse. As Dan seems to have worked out, it's only when you tank it.

I put in 1:200 on the 2 stroke oil which is (works out on calculator) the same as alex. Does make the car run smoother and quieter. My friends have noticed bigger results in their bigger diesels. It's the lubrication which helps smooth the injectors and pump.

Use TRF if you can get your hands on any for the EGR valve, gets it all straight off and then an air line for the last few bits. Should only take you 20 mins or so.

You'll find, with some ragging the EGR won't get so clogged up, Mines on something like 164k now, still no engine issues!

She's ragged more than Tori Black.....

Try to test the functional limits as much as possible. Well done Claude, you are still capable of overtaking a Lorry on a hill.

Well managed to get the egr valve off yesterday. Lots of carbon/crap build up on it, needed abit of wiggling so first time its been of id say, cleaned it out and stuck it back on. Seems to run slighty better now as in smoother, hopefully not just placebo effect. Light is still on though but it was worth doing, next stop glow plugs so getting them ordered this weekend.

I had the same problem new egr valve sorted it.

Just need to reset the adaptive values to stop the eml and p0487 fault code keep coming back.
