Cam Belt for 1.2 16V

After some advice....

Purchased my Dynamique just after it's 36K service and the cam belt wasn't changed. The car has now done 42K on an 02 plate, at what mileage should I think about changing the cam belt and what's the average price for this work....

72k or 3 years which ever is sooner iirc

yup 72k or 5 years on non-sport models.

Altho i wudnt leave it that long !!

Mine was changed at 50k when the car was 3-4 years old, belt that came off was OK, but its peaceof mind

You may find that the water pump needs replacing too, well worth doing as everything is off the car.

my waterpump hasnt been done after 117,000 miles but ive noticed the car looses coolant more than normal, could this be the problem?

Did mine at 25k but it was 4 years old though, the cambelt kit with the tensioner is about £75 so anything else on top of that is labour.
Its not too difficult as its only a sohc engine and theres only one tensioner and the crank and cam pulley to play with so labour shouldn't be too much but who knows with renault. :dapprove:

easy peasy to change, i would suggest changing the water pump too as mine was knackered at 60K (it was leaking through the bearing)

^^^yup as i said worth changing. Mine was leaking exactly same (common on these buggers) very slight leak but worth changing.

That could explain my current very slight loss of coolant, how much did it drop by?
I loose about 10mm out the header tank every 3 months or so would of thought I would be loosing more if the pump was knackered.

Yup GSF have em pretty cheap, altho Reno are a bit pricy for theres!

Mine was a pretty small leak, but u cud see the coolant spraying up inside when it was stripped down for belt.

Could explain ur loss, as it wud be hidden out of view.


When u come to changing it over, keep one handy as im sure u will find the leak hehe.

There was confusion on part numbers from Reno, if they tell u there is a replacement dont bother as its ends up comign bak to the same number above ^^^

Also they will try and sell u an outlet which is already on the pump!!! So just check when u pick it up.

really?! i bought mine for £30, thats a QH one...
