Cambelts due at 75k?

Ive looked around for racing blue 182s in my area for a month now and when i ask if the cambelt has been changed they have all turned round to me and said the same thing.

"Cambelt is due at 75k".

Now correct me if im wrong, but isnt it 72k or 5 years which ever comes first. As they are mainly 2004 plates they should have been done last year.

Where do all of these dealers get the idea that its only 75k? Really starting to piss me off now.

Make sure you buy one with the belts done-

Thing is, when i turn around to them and warn them that its 72k/5years they all get funny with me and then offer to do it them selfs. JOG ON! I want renault or a specialist doing it.

just buy one and make sure it's cheap enough to cover the cost of the work. I'd personally do the belt on anything that i bought that i havn't known for a long time. Seen enough 1.2s with belts cocked up, let alone 172/182s. Independant dealers tend to use the cheapest possible option and usually rush the job

I just spoke to one guy. He said he would do the cambelt if the price was right. I told him, drop the price and il get someone that knows how and uses the proper parts for the job. Told me to get lost and stop wasting his time. Charming.

showroom cond , 34k , belts done birchdown, 2 owners 05 plate- ( its sat at home)-

Yup either cups or just the cup suspension pack. Very hard to find in RB. You have pm btw.

The Gates cambelt kit is perfectly fine, its the labour side of things that needs to be done properly.

yep agreed- birchdown give you the choice of gates or renault-

All your paying £50 is a renault cardboard box..... although its a tad more difficult to claim if it goes t*ts up

Hence me going for the renault. Not worth the hassle "if" if breaks. Had a gates pully destroy itself on an F7P lump before now

Gates kit is identical to OEM. Same pulleys in most brand name kits too actually

my 182 is on 61k at the mo so i'll have the big service next year, i will definitely be calling on the expertise of Lemonnobby1 he's a legend i tell thee!!

gates kit is fine, its the one id use over renault, its the labour thats the problem.

I bought my 04 plate 182 on 75k and got the belts all changed immediately cos they hadn't been done yet.
